Use of Sound in our Trailer

Sound in Our Trailer:

One type of diegetic sound that we used in our trailer was dialogue. We used conventional cliches during our trailer with the dialogue. For example, at 0:19 in the trailer, we can hear Shannon say the line "Sean, Sean this looks really serious" This is a common line that is heard during horror film changes, as it shows the innocence of the protagonists, by hinting to the audience that something bad will occur to them. We also hear a line of dialogue from our film's antagonist which is aimed at one of our protagonists. He says "You can't escape now" This line is conventional to a horror film, as it has the audience worrying for the protagonist.

An example of non diegetic sound that is heard in our trailer is soundtrack. We chose to use a large variety of soundtrack throughout our trailer, with different tempos and volume, depending on the scene in which it goes with. An example of when we have shown this is when we used loud, high tempo soundtrack to compliment the high tension shot of Sean and Shannon running towards the underground shelter. This juxtaposes to the slower and quieter soundtrack that is played at the start of the trailer, over the opening shots.

The soundtrack that we use is similar to soundtracks that are heard in other film trailers from the horror genre, such as IT and The Woman in Black. Both films use tense dramatic soundtrack throughout the soundtrack, as well as dialogue from the main characters in the film.
