IT Trailer (2017)

The movie "It" is of the horror genre and is based around clowns. The film trailer is able to give the audience a brief insight into what the film is about.

The film has a target audience of teenagers and young adults, due to the film's genre. However, the film also appeals to a middle aged target audience, due to the film being based on a similar film from the early 1990s. The film trailer can appeal to its target audience through using general conventions of horror movies, such as low key lighting and civilised locations in the film.

One type of camera shot that is used from the trailer is a close up. This is used to show the boy's facial expressions upon seeing the face of the clown. This is effective as the audience can empathise with how the boy is feeling in this situation. Another type of camera shot that is used in the film trailer is long shot, which is used to show the setting of the film, an old abandoned house. This is effective as it shows to the audience what the location of the film is.

The costumes of the protagonists are natural, which suggests that it is trying to make it relatable for the audience of the film. The settings of the film that are shown in the trailer are dark, which are conventional to the horror film genre.

The non diegetic soundtrack that is used in the trailer is tense and dramatic, which is a typical convention for a horror film. The cuts between scenes at the beginning of the trailer are slow, as they introduce the audience to the scenes and the characters. But as the trailer goes on, the cuts are of a faster pace
