Green Street Hooligans Trailer Analysis
The movie Green Street Hooligans is of the action-drama genre and is based around the football hooligans of England.
Due to the film's use of strong language and violence, as well as the topic of the film being centered around football, the target audience of the film would conventionally be of young men from ages of 16 or 17 up to the ages of 30, or potentially anyone who has an interest in action films or football. The trailer showcases short clips of screaming football fans as well as them getting involved in punch ups.
The non-diegetic soundtrack that is played in the trailer is the song "Club Foot" by British rock band Kasabian. Music of this genre tends to be popular with the conventional target audience of action films, due to the music having a louder volume and higher tempo. As well as this, the diegetic dialogue that is used by the characters in the film is violent and aggressive, which can be a stereotype of young men.
One type of camera shot that is used in the trailer is a close up. This type of shot is used to show the facial expressions on the character's faces, so that the target audience can empathise with how they feel. Another type of camera shot that is used in the trailer is a two shot, which shows to the audience the relationship between two different characters. An example of a camera angle that is used in the trailer is a low angle, which makes the camera look down on the protagonist of the film; a young innocent American man who has never been involved in a fight. This type of camera angle is effective as it shows that he has less power compared to the violent football fans who are talking to him
The setting of the film is in the rougher and stereo typically working class areas of South East London, particularly the areas in which the football clubs of West Ham and Millwall are based. This conforms to the stereotype of action films, as they tend to be set in more violent areas. The costumes of the hooligans are casual clothing, for example bomber jackets and jeans. This would be relatable to the clothing of the target audience, as this clothing type is what they consider as fashionable.
